Health Nexus Psychology was founded by Michael Chong with the belief that psychological care should be practical, collaborative and closely integrated with a person's overall healthcare.

Background

A health-focused approach to psychological care.

Michael brings together experience across psychology, healthcare and workplace wellbeing, allowing him to understand the complex relationship between physical health, emotional wellbeing and the realities of everyday life.

Michael works collaboratively with GPs, specialists and other healthcare professionals to provide evidence-based psychological care that complements each person's broader health management.

Michael also currently works within a community health setting as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, supporting adults living with chronic health conditions and the emotional, behavioural and lifestyle challenges that can accompany them.

Who I Support

Support across life stages, with a strength in older adults.

Michael works with individuals across the lifespan, with a particular interest in supporting older adults and those navigating changes in health, wellbeing and life circumstances. He supports adults, young adults, adolescents and younger people experiencing emotional challenges, health changes and significant life transitions. Whether adjusting to a new diagnosis, managing anxiety, stress, burnout, grief or low mood, Michael aims to create a therapeutic space where people feel heard, understood and empowered to move forward.

Workplace

Workplace health and psychological wellbeing.

Before becoming a psychologist, Michael spent many years in senior human resource, learning and development, workplace health, wellbeing and injury management roles, partnering with organisations to deliver programs and projects focused on improving employee wellbeing, prevent psychological injury and support recovery following illness or workplace injury.

This experience informs the workplace consulting services offered through Health Nexus Psychology, including:
